Neither of us can remember for sure the day we first went out, but after attempting to figure it out, we decided on July 21, 2000. We first met in Colorado while working together at IBM. Shortly thereafter, Faith went to study abroad in Costa Rica while I continued to attend college here in Colorado. This set the scene for what would be a lot of time spent long distance dating.
After returning from Costa Rica, Faith went back to school at the University of Redlands in California and I remained in Colorado. During this time, we kept in touch via many phone calls and letters. We both managed to visit each other twice during the following year, making the time go fairly quick. After spending the summer together in Denver and dating frequently; Faith, my parents, and her friend Katie all went to Costa Rica on vacation. Upon return, I made a huge decision and decided to move to California to be closer to Faith during her Senior year, as well as to have a change for myself.
While in California, I lived and worked in Santa Monica, nearly 70 miles from Faith's college. We saw each other nearly every weekend allowing our relationship to grow stronger. After graduating, Faith joined Greencorps, an environmental training organization, and was placed in San Diego. We were now over 130 miles apart but still managed to see each other frequently. Her next placement was in L.A. for just over a month and this was the time in which I proposed. Her last placement was in Minnesota. Shortly thereafter, Faith accepted a job in Denver in April of 2003. I followed suit and moved back to Denver in June. We have been together ever since were married in July of 2004.
